I make TikTok videos every day that teach the whole process of how to become a data analyst. Additionally, I post a good number of videos saying how anyone can become a data analyst.

While anyone can become a data analyst, that doesn’t mean the process is easy. Anyone who says breaking into tech as a data analyst is easy is lying (and probably trying to sell you something). If it was easy, everyone would do it, and data wouldn’t be such a lucrative field.

Anyone can become a data analyst because there is a set process. If you complete that process, you can become a data analyst.

This isn’t the case with everything. When I was younger, I dreamed of being an NBA player. However, even if I dedicated a large portion of my life to becoming great at basketball, the odds of me becoming a pro were incredibly low.

Data analytics is different, though. If you learn SQL, learn data visualization, build portfolios, optimize your resume, optimize your LinkedIn, learn how to reach out to recruiters, maybe work on interview skills, and are persistent, it is very likely that you will successfully become a data analyst.

That is the process and the process is relatively simple. But it is not easy. It takes hard work and hours to learn the skills, do projects, and go the extra mile to make your resume and LinkedIn enticing to recruiters. Additionally, it can take some time to land your first data job.

The truth is that most aren’t willing to commit the time and effort needed to complete the process. That is why not everyone is becoming a data analyst. That is why data analysts can make six figures a few years in.

What does this mean for you? It means that if you’re serious about working hard to become a data analyst and change your life, you can do this.

To break into tech as a data analyst, you don’t have to be brilliant, but you must be persistent.
